ZJU Students Make Good Achievements in the 31st World Summer Universiade Trials

The 31st World Summer Universiade Trials (Wushu Competition) was held in Qingdao of Shandong Province from April 3rd to 5th. Nearly 130 contestants from 37 universities national-wide took part in this competition, which consisted of two major categories: Wushu routines and Wushu sanda. Excellent athletes will have the opportunity to qualify for the 2022 Summer Universiade.

CHEN Xiaoli, a graduate student in ethnic traditional sports, and MA Qitao, an undergraduate in martial arts and traditional sports, both from the Department of Sports Science of College of Education, competed on behalf of ZJU. CHEN Xiaoli with her stable play won the women's Tai chi chuan and Taiji sword double champions, and MA Qitao won the fourth place in men's Long Reach and third place in man’s sabreplay. The two students showed excellent level of competition in the field.

Hosted by the International University Sports Federation, World Summer Universiade is the largest and highest level of college students competition in the world, and is also the highest level and largest international university sports event in which the Federation of University of sports of China(FUSC) participate. The athletes who win the first places in the tirals will have the opportunity to show Chinese culture and the spirit of Chinese youth to the world in the 31st Summer Universiade and win glory for our country as the communicators of Chinese culture.
