ZJU Holds 2017 Cross-Straits, Hong Kong& Macau Comparative Education Forum

The 4th Cross-Straits Hong Kong& Macau Comparative Education Forum was held in Hangzhou on November 25-26, hosted by Zhejiang University and jointly organized by College of Education and Zhejiang University Center for International Education Research.
 
This year’s forum centered around "Comparative Education in the Age of Sharing". Over 200 distinguished scholars and practitioners were invited to attend the forum. Participants discussed the frontier issues concerning the future development of comparative education , the education reform and the new trends of world education.
 
At the opening ceremony, the Vice Party Secretary of Zhejiang University, Professor Xuyang Hu delivered the welcoming address. Then, the dean of Institute of International and Comparative Education, Beijing Normal University, Prof. Baocun Liu, the dean of the College of Education, Zhejiang University, Professor Jianming Gu gave the opening address. 
 
During the two-day conference, there were 11 keynote speeches, 3 main sessions and 2 graduate students sessions around three sub-themes:  Developing Comparative Education Discipline, Education Reform and Development in Cross-Straits, Hong Kong& Macau, the Trend of World Education Reform. Comparative education scholars and practitioners engaged in discussion on key concepts and practices in relating topics, resulting in deeper understandings and more issues for exploration. 
The forum was concluded by Professor Xueping Wu, the head of the Department of Education. This forum has made four main achievements: Firstly, friendships among fellow scholars from Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau have been significantly strengthened, and leading to marked improvements in comparative education discipline development. Secondly, the academic exchange and cultural communication have been promoted among the participants. Thirdly, the confidence in developing comparative education discipline has been enhanced, and future research direction has been determined. Finally, the sense of responsibility and mission among the comparative education scholars and researchers has been strengthened. Great confidence has been raised in giving full play in realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation, and making China’s contribution to the knowledge and cultural advancement of mankind.
