Inauguration of the UNESCO EE-Net National Chapter in China and the 2O14 ERI-Net Annual Meeting were Successfully held

    Inauguration of the UNESCO Entrepreneurship Education-Network (EE-Net) National Chapter in China and the 2O14 Education Research Institute-Network (ERI-Net) Annual Meeting was held from 25th to 28th, Nov. 2014 at Zhejiang Narada Grand Hotel. This conference was sponsored by the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, and Zhejiang University (ZJU), and held by the UNESCO Chair in Entrepreneurship Education at ZJU, College of Education in ZJU, and the Research Institute of Development Strategy in ZJU. The conference had two topics for discussion: one was the inauguration of the EE-Net National Chapter in China and the construction of its platform; the other was the international comparison of evaluation and employment system of academic staff in higher education institutes. This conference was aimed at enhancing communication and cooperation among countries in the Asian-Pacific Region on entrepreneurship education and academic evaluation under the framework of UNESCO.
 

    Prof. Xu Xiaozhou, Dean of the College of Education, Chair holder of the UNESCO Chair in Entrepreneurship Education at ZJU acted as conference chair. There were 35 foreign scholars from Korea, Japan, Australia, India, Thailand, Indonesia, Mongolia, Malaysia, Philippines, Viet Nam, Cambodia and nearly 300 domestic scholars from Zhejiang University, Peking University, Fudan University, Northeast Normal University, etc.


    Dr. Wang Libing, APEID Coordinator & Senior Programme Specialist in Higher Education for UNESCO Asia-Pacific, Dr. Du Yue, Secretary General for Chinese National Commission for UNESCO and Prof. Lin Jianhua, President of Zhejiang University made welcoming remarks. Congratulatory remarks and messages were also delivered by Dr. Gwang-Jo Kim, Director of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, Mr. Qu Zhenyuan, President of the China Association of Higher Education, Prof. Zhang Li, Director of the National Centre for Education Development and Research, the Ministry of Education, Ms. Liu Yanning, Executive President of the China Council for the Promotion of Nationalities Trade (CCPNT), Ms. Liu Qian, Former Executive Vice President of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, & Secretary-General, Chinese Arts Foundation, and Mr. Wang Guoping, Former Member of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee & Secretary, Hangzhou, Municipal Party Committee & Deputy Director, Consulting Committee of Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government & Director, Hangzhou International Urbanology Research Center.
 


    This conference had two sessions for keynote speeches, with 7 Chinese reports in the first EE-Net annual conference and 25 English reports in the ERI-Net Annual Meeting. During the EE-Net Meeting session, strategic concepts for China Entrepreneurship and theory and practice for China Entrepreneurship Education were discussed. During the ERI-Net Annual Meeting session, transversal capability and academic improvement for academic staff in higher education institutes were discussed.

    This conference was successful and fruitful as it has effectively facilitated the communication among many groups, and constructed a platform for cooperation in entrepreneurship education and international comparison on personnel systems.
